For my pumpkin, I painted it with Jack Skelington's face from A Nightmare Before Christmas. I love that movie and I love the idea of the holiday themed painting project. I had a lot of fun doing this project.

Ana Juan is the artist of the New Yorker cover that I chose to base my project off of. She has contributed to over 20 covers for the New Yorker. She was born in Valencia, Spain. She has exhibitions in Geneva, New York and Spain. She has published and illustrated many books. My project was meant to be similar to the boot but have a skeleton structure and be held up in a museum or something.
I love scratchboard and I love how this came out. This was my first scratchboard ever and I'm glad that it came out the way that it did. For my concentration, I plan on focusing on skeletons and bones, so I might be able to use this in my portfolio.
The graphic letters were a lot of fun. Although I didn't exactly follow the directions for this project, I liked how mine came out. I think that if I were to change something I would definitely want to touch up on my colored pencil skills. I wish I knew how to do those more and I'm going to figure it out this year so I can use them more in my projects. I chose the word "blue" because I had a cute idea for the U before I started.
I loved the future self project because it could've been whatever I wanted. I love the scratch board and I plan to use it a lot more. I've used it twice so far, and I have never used it before this year. I feel like by doing scratchboard I am developing more skills that I can use for other projects. My project was meant to symbolize a family tree because in the future I think the most important thing to me is having a big happy family.
The charcoal portrait was a project that I had a lot of problems with. I'm glad I know how to use it now but I don't think I would ever choose to use it again. I thought it was cool how you could just wipe your hand over the paper and erase it. I learned a lot of important skills from the art prof about charcoal.
The Kinetic Art project was really messy but a lot of fun. Even though it's such a basic activity I think I learned a lot from it. Pauliny and I worked hard and got very messy from this project and we made ours with many layers of charcoal so it was really dark. I won't forget this project ever because of the ceiling tile that we made after.
The Blind Contour project was so much fun. I really liked this because of how creative you could be. It was hard for me in the beginning to not look at the paper but I got the hang of it and I loved the way mine came out.
I don't really like the way that this piece came out. I wish that I used water colors or some kind of paint to make the color on the bird instead of having streaks. However, I really liked learning about John James Audubon's life and art. I always think its interesting to learn about someone's life and then see what they create.
My approach to the self portrait was a little different. I wanted to do something more colorful and creative, and even though it definitely didn't come out the way I had hoped that it would, I'm glad that I experimented and tried.
